  1. Just tried this but after extracting and launching, the EmulationStation works fine but starting a game simply results in the screen getting black and fading back to the EmulationStion UI. What am I doing wrong?

  3. I already tried various roms and emulators, all suffer the same problem. I launch the portable version with "Launch Portable (Windowed).bat", startup is fine. I tried GameBoy for an example, launched a rom. Screen fades black. Closes, opens, fades back to the EmuStation and I can launch the rom again. The emulator simply doesn't get started.

To make sure it doesn't have something to do with GB I also tried N64, NDS and SNES - same results.

  4. Update: Found the issue! Your portable Emulation Station MUST NOT be placed in a folder that uses "spaces". So C:\EmuStation\ works well but C:\Emu Station\ does not.

I can launch roms now. Unfortunately I suffer from a different problem. I can configure my input interface (my gamepad) in "Emu Station" but as soon as I launch a rom from any system, the keys are not working as I have defined them in Emu Station.

What do I have to do here?

    1. Ok, all files MUST NOT be placed in ANY folder
      for example:
      COPY ALL FILES IN C:\
      NOT IN C:\EmuStation\

DO NOT PLACE THE PROGRAM IN A FOLDER, JUST COPY TO DRIVE/USB

    3. This means I need a unique partition or as a variant a removable drive where the files are directly in the root of the drive?

  7. Hello,
Thank you so much, it's a really good job, every thing works fine, i can just play every where i go. Just to know first time, need to install the good version of visual C++.
Just one question to make it perfect, how do i add MAME and amstradcpc ?
The folder is not in the list, i try to add it manually in the path, with the good name but nothing happened.
    Thanks

  11. Hey there. Thanks for your job, it's a very nice work!

I have a doubt over here. Aparently I did all the steps and the Emulationstation is working fine.

I have configured a bluetooth joystick and it works on the ES. However, when I start a game it appears an error "Bluetooth controller not configured". I've tried in different systems and the same message apears. What can it be? Any Help?

Copy all files to USB Flash Drive or External HDD/SSD Disk Root directory!
    not in folder!

    i think this the problem.

  20. Denis quick question. Right now my emulation station is in documents folder and boots up with roms there. What if I want to change the roms folder to my sd card. TLDR: want to have roms stored on SD card, not on computer’s rom folder.

    2. Hey, you can try to edit the config file "es_systems.cfg"
      file location:
      \.emulationstation\es_systems.cfg

open the file "es_systems.cfg" with Notepad++

      then find "<path"

      for exemple:
      <path ~\.emulationstation\roms\dreamcast</path

then try to change the path
      for exemple:
      <path c:\roms\dreamcast</path

      i didn't try this
      good luck

  21. I have a quick question for psx. The extension .chd roms aren’t listed in the emulation station GUI. How can I get emulation station to accept .chd files. I found little help elsewhere.
